Water Intake Tips and Tricks
Do you know how much water you drink on a daily basis? Do you know your body’s thirst cues?
Summer is here and with increased temperatures comes an increase in our hydration needs. The rule of thumb is to drink half your bodyweight in ounces of water per day. If you hit that goal on a daily basis, that’s awesome! But let’s take it up a notch. This summer, we challenge you to employ at least one of the following tricks for more daily water intake.
Tip #1: Add electrolytes to your water
ELECTROLYTES! What are they and why are they important?
Electro-lytes are minerals that help regulate electrical charges in your body. Electrolytes are needed to fire nerve impulses to regulate the nervous system. The balance of electrolytes in our bodies depends on the amount of sweat, urine, and other bodily fluids we excrete coupled with if we replace them through diet and supplements. Our favorite brand is LMNT.
Tip #2: Treat yourself to a nice water bottle with a straw
Just two of these per day is equal to one gallon! Fill it up once in the morning and once after lunch. The straw makes all the difference. You wouldn’t believe how many ounces you’re missing out on by having to open a water bottle lid. It sounds ridiculous, but it’s true!

Tip #3: Make a realistic daily intake schedule
Just like anything else, water intake thrives on consistency and routine. Block times that you absolutely have to drink a certain amount of ounces by. For example, if your goal is 90 ounces per day, set your intentions to get in 40 ounces before 10am, 60 ounces before 12pm, etc. and you’ll cruise past that 90 ounce goal by mid afternoon.
