[3:54] So one of the benefits of keeping your blood sugar level low, or intermittent fasting, is it slows the rate of cancer development. Even in this study of breast cancer patients recently published in July of this year, actually means that you have less chance of getting cancer if you follow this.
[5:46] High fructose corn syrup has special hazards in, we think, increasing the risk of colon cancer and liver fibrosis, or what we call fatty liver disease.
[6:09] You wouldn't marry someone who didn't love you or you wouldn't marry someone, if you will, who was trying to kill you every day. You may love French fries, but they're trying to kill you every day.
[6:27] The key in eating is really to eat foods that you love but that love you back.
[9:53] What ketosis does is it turns on a separate gene that helps you recycle old cells and make them new cells. So getting to ketosis is the key with intermittent fasting.
[11:26] You can't get to ketosis if you've got high blood sugar. You get the ketosis, which means ketones are providing you energy, your body thinks you're going to die. You're in a starvation state in that state. It goes into starvation mode, which means it starts recycling your old cells and using them for energy. That's a great thing because it means when you refeed, you're going to have young cells.
[18:32] What's the worst day for our energy? It's either Super Bowl Sunday or Thanksgiving because we put too much sugar in here. That causes free radical damage, which makes our mitochondria older and gives us less energy.
[18:47] If you eat smaller meals and don't eat straight sugar, you have fewer errors. So if you will, you have more energy at every age. That's called rejuvenation.
[24:58] Eating the same amount of food in the morning, you lose weight compared to eating it in the evening.
[25:44] When you look in your refrigerator, think of it as having a lot of clocks and you want to eat more early in the day, less later.
[25:58] Your nutritional circadian rhythm means that you become more insulin resistant the later in your day, which means you want to eat earlier while you're awake and less later.
[26:48] When matters as much as what to aging.
[29:19] Sugar is a good energy source, but you don't want too much of it.
[32:26] The holy grail of aging is repair.
[33:01] You want to save your stem cells as much as possible.
[34:27] If you have a heart attack, you normally will have stem cells come and repair it and you get normal functioning. But if you don't restore blood flow in time, your stem cells can't get there and you develop a decreased functioning of your heart so it doesn't pump blood normally.
[36:30] Choose the food you're going to eat, plan ahead, figure out how to do it so that you can eat well in every situation.
[37:58] Don't sacrifice to help others without helping yourself.
[38:18] You can't pour if your cup is empty. Gratitude is a great way of managing stress, thank people for helping you, even people who you don't think of as helping you, they are. Say thank you to them.
[38:52] People don't want to be praised. They want to act in ways that are praiseworthy.
[39:23] Stress is the major cause of aging. Nutrition is number two.
[39:57] The key in eating healthy, especially if you want to eat a lot of vegetables, which is healthiest for you, is to learn how to cut.
