[01:27] We do some breath-holding, if you will, that helps regulate the system, then this is a way for us to turn on the concentration, the focus that is needed.
[04:11] Part of what I do and I teach meditation, teach breathwork. I observe people, how they're breathing.
[05:00] We can interrupt our system with just a couple of breaths.
[05:39] If we can bring more belly breathing as our normal breath, our system will immediately start to down-regulate
[11:03] This is what the Dalai Lama always talks about when he says, "Our enemies can be our teachers."
[11:35] ]Put your hand on your belly, take a breath or three, and just see what happens.
[13:47] There's no digestion. We lose a bit of hearing, our peripheral vision goes away, we have this tunnel vision.
[15:08] These days, there's these two ways breathwork is being taught.
[16:04] On the other end is a method that was developed in the 1920s by a doctor called Dr. Buteyko.
[17:05] Before I mountain bike race, I do that, I get myself super amped and then I go burn it off on a mountain bike, but I don't need to do that when I'm on a podcast.
[18:43] We have to recognize, "I'm stressed. I need to do something right now." And then do it. Put your hand on your belly. Breathe in. Breathe out.
[19:58] The best thing about a habit is that you can change it.
[21:56] So let's start with the breath and the body, like really the body, and notice how I'm feeling right now.
